Toyota Hilux World Record Attempt Competition

Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter

The promoter of this competition is Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd ("the Promoter").

2. Competition Overview

2.1 The Toyota Hilux World Record Attempt Competition ("the Competition") will take place at the South Parking area of NAMPO Park in Bothaville on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 to attempt to set four (4) official Guinness World Records ("GWR").

2.2 Participants who meet all eligibility and attendance requirements will be entered into a draw to stand a chance to win an ALL NEW 9th generation Hilux Xtra Cab 2.8 GD-6 4x4 Raider AT ("the Prize").

3. Eligibility

3.1 The Competition is open to participants who:

  1. Are 18 years of age or older and are citizens or permanent residents of South Africa;
  2. Hold a valid, unendorsed South African driver's licence for a motor vehicle (Code B or higher) to be legally permitted to drive a motor vehicle in South Africa;
  3. Own or are in lawful possession of a Toyota Hilux vehicle;
  4. Successfully pre-register, or register on the day of the Competition, to participate in the Competition;
  5. Be allocated a unique number upon check-in at the NAMPO event;
  6. Arrive at the South Parking area of NAMPO Park on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 between 07:00 and 11:00; and
  7. Must be in attendance at his/her Toyota Hilux vehicle on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 between 11:30 and 13:30 in order to partake in the four (4) GWR attempts.

3.2 Each vehicle may only be entered once.

3.3 All qualifying participants agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions.

3.4 Employees, agents, suppliers, contractors, associates, dealers of the Promoter directly or indirectly involved in the planning, organisation, management, operation, supervision, verification, adjudication or administration of the Competition, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

4. How to Enter

4.1 Pre-Registration

4.1.1 Participants may pre-register via the official microsite: www.hiluxworldrecord.co.za

4.1.2 A maximum of 2,000 unique system generated numbers will be generated for participants at check-in to stand a chance to win in the Competition.

4.1.3 During pre-registration, participants must provide the following information:

  1. Name of Driver;
  2. Vehicle registration number;
  3. Vehicle VIN number;
  4. Hilux model;
  5. Year of Hilux; and
  6. Contact number.

4.1.4 Pre-registered participants will be required to check in on arrival by scanning a QR code to confirm attendance and receive a unique system generated number to stand a chance to win in the Competition.

4.2 On-the-Day Registration

4.2.1 Participants who did not pre-register may register on the day of the event upon arrival at the designated Hilux parking area.

4.2.2 Availability of on-the-day registration is subject to capacity and operational constraints.

4.2.3 On-the-day registration will be facilitated on the microsite by official promotional staff.

4.2.4 On-the-day registration participants who are able to register will also receive a unique system generated number to stand a chance to win in the Competition.

4.3 Participants may bring one (1) passenger with them on the day.

4.4 All participants must:

  1. Opt in to the Competition; and
  2. Accept and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

4.5 The Promoter and its affiliates are not responsible for any entries, which are not received by it, regardless of the cause for non-receipt.

4.6 The Promoter and its affiliates are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network, computer system, server, or provider, which may have hindered entry into the Competition.

4.7 Incomplete, illegible, misdirected, duplicated or late entries will not be accepted and the entrants will be disqualified from the Competition. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery or receipt. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are incomplete, lost due to technical reasons, corrupted, delayed, wrongly delivered, or not received for whatsoever reason.

5. Arrival and Attendance Requirements

5.1 To be eligible to participate and to be entered into the draw:

  1. Participants must arrive between 07:00 and 11:00 on Wednesday 13 May 2026.
  2. Participants must be present at their Hilux vehicle between 11:30 and 13:30.
  3. Participants must remain in attendance for the full duration of the GWR attempts and fully participate in the GWR attempts.

5.2 Any participant who leaves early, arrives late, fails to comply with the attendance requirements, or fails to participate in the GWR attempts will be disqualified from the draw.

6. Tokens, Goodie Bags and Draw Entry

6.1 Upon arrival and successful registration/check-in, each participant will be allocated a unique system generated number and given a goodie bag consisting of:

  1. 2 x Black branded T-shirts
  2. 2 x Black caps
  3. 2 x Meal vouchers
  4. 2 x NAMPO entrance tickets
  5. 1 x Bumper sticker

6.2 The unique system generated number will be entered into the draw via a physical token. The physical tokens will be placed in the draw barrel by an authorised Toyota representative after check-in closes at 11:00 on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

7. Prize Draw

7.1 Only participants who:

  1. Are present for the full duration of the GWR attempts; and
  2. Comply with all event instructions and these Terms & Conditions,

will qualify for entry into the prize draw.

7.2 After completion of the GWR attempts, the draw barrel will be brought onto the stage and one (1) winning token will be drawn.

7.3 The Competition winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entrants who meet these terms and conditions.

7.4 The selected entrant must, upon request, provide the unique generated number previously assigned to him/her, failing which the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify such entrant and select an alternative winner in accordance with the same process.

7.5 The prize is one (1) ALL NEW 9th generation Toyota Hilux Xtra Cab 2.8 GD-6 4x4 Raider AT.

7.6 The prize is not transferable, not exchangeable, and not redeemable for cash.

8. Guinness World Record Attempts

8.1 Participants must take part in all four (4) of the following official GWR attempts to stand a chance to win in the Competition:

  1. Most pick-up tailgates closed simultaneously;
  2. Most cars switching on their lights simultaneously;
  3. Most car doors closed simultaneously; and
  4. Most car horns sounded simultaneously.

8.2 All attempts will be conducted under the supervision of an official GWR adjudicator, and participants must follow all instructions provided by event stewards and officials.

9. General

9.1 The Promoter reserves the right to:

  1. Verify the validity of entries;
  2. Disqualify any participant who breaches these Terms & Conditions or acts unlawfully or disruptively;
  3. Amend, suspend, or cancel the Competition due to circumstances beyond its control.

9.2 Neither the Promoter nor its agents, distributors, nor any of the Promoter's directors, officers, employees or agents shall be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever, which may be suffered by the entrants in connection with this Competition or the use of the prizes.

9.3 The eligible prize winner may be required to sign an indemnity form. Failure to sign the indemnity shall result in the prize being forfeited.

9.4 All risks and ownership of the prizes shall pass to the winners on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all of the Promoter's obligations in regard to the Competition as well as in regard to the prizes shall terminate.

9.5 The Promoter shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the entrants and eligible winners for entering the Competition or in claiming any prizes, where applicable.

9.6 All the information provided or related to this Competition shall be managed, captured, and approved by the Promoter, and will not be used for any other purpose than for execution of the Competition and in line with applicable legislation.

9.7 User data collected via entry for this Competition will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, No 4 of 2013 and the Promoter's Privacy Policy.

9.8 Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit, or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the participant or the Promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA").

9.9 Participation in the event is entirely at the participant's own risk. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage suffered as a result of participation, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

9.10 By entering the Competition, participants consent to the use of their names, images, and vehicle images for promotional and publicity purposes without further compensation.

10. Acceptance of Terms

10.1 By registering and participating in the Competition, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
